The Mekotek traditional ceremony uses 2.5-meter wooden sticks. The sticks are then put together to form a pyramid-like shape. Well, the name “Mekotek” came from the word “kotek” means hitting a fruit using long stick. Before the procession was held, the participants were obliged to wear traditional clothes. Then, they gathered at Pura Dalem Munggu to do a prayer. After that, the parade began towards the spring in Munggu Village, accompanied by the Beleganjur gamelan. This procession aims to get rid of bad lucks and to protect the people from diseases and calamities.
